Marble is the crème de la crème of flooring. But exactly who makes the most expensive marble in the world? And how much does it cost? The answer may surprise you.
The most expensive marble tile in the world was created as a collaborative project between Pietra Firma and John Harwood Designs. As a result they created a high-brow line called Lux Touch – which can fetch up to $1,000,000 per square meter.
Yes. You read that right. The most expensive marble will cost you a cool million dollars a piece.
So what makes this marble so pricey? Well, the answer is simple. In each square meter of the black marble, customers will find that it has been inlaid with 95 brilliant cut diamonds, mother of pearl as well as abalone.
Radiating from the center of the tile is a circular petal design that is made of pitch-black agate and inlaid with 19 diamonds and a mother of pearl flower petal pattern. On each corner of the tile customers will find mother of pearl and abalone shell.
So exactly how many precious stones and materials does it take to make up a single square meter?According to Pietra Firma, each square meter of LuxTouch marble tile is inlaid with over 1,000 diamonds, 2,400 pieces of mother of pearl, 400 pieces of abalone shell and 500 pieces of black onyx.
As a result of the inlaid diamonds, the tile not only looks dazzling but offers a tactile feel that is as equally impressive. When inlaid, the diamonds are slightly raised above the flat of each tile offering customers a sensual experience that is both felt and seen.
Designed for the distinguished buyer, the Pietra Firma Collection is limited in numbers and each tile can be custom ordered with a variety of precious stones.
Now keep in mind, if a million bucks per tile is a bit over your budget, you can always opt for semi-precious stones (instead of diamonds) dropping the price of each square meter to just $100,000 each.
