According to a survey performed by National Association of Home Builder’s Remodeling Market Index (RMI) the two most common remodeling jobs are led by bathrooms (81%) followed by kitchen remodels (79%), and it comes with good reason.
To be honest, investing in a kitchen remodel is not only good for your home value, but for something we like to call, “The Triple H” – Health, Heritage & Happiness. This is where the action takes place. It’s where we learn recipes that have been handed down from one generation to the next. It’s where we build our self confidence as cooks, and a communal gathering area where stories are shared and memories are created.
So here are three good reasons why the kitchen will always be the soul of your home, and why it’s worth the effort to revamp it:
- AROMA ASSOCIATION – There’s nothing like waking up to the aroma of baked biscuits or freshly brewed coffee. Now follow that aroma and it’ll lead you straight to the kitchen. Regardless if it’s for a midnight snack, a cold brew or a few ice cubes to ease a headache, the kitchen is our source for nourishment and a place we come to celebrate life or seek comfort.
- LEARNING THE VALUE OF HELP – As kids, the first place we learn to help is in the kitchen. Whether it’s to help bake cookies or wash dishes for a weekly allowance, the kitchen is where most of us learn the value of lending a helping hand.
- CENTRAL HUB – Whereas bedrooms are used primarily for sleeping, kitchens are the central hub of your day-to-day living. It’s a communal gathering spot that serves up good food, great drinks and a sacred area that’ll get you fit, or fat, depending on how you cook.
- VALUE – A kitchen remodel isn’t necessarily cheap, but the return on your investment is great. According to Remodel Magazine, a slight remodel ($15,000 and less) will offer a return of 92.9 percent on your original investment. Now keep in mind, it’s not the price of the remodel that counts, but more so the quality of the products chosen as well as the colors, finish and layout.
